The president of Conoco Phillips Alaska, Jim Bowles, and a friend were snowmachining in the mountains around Spencer Glacier yesterday, when they were killed by an avalanche. Spencer Glacier is south of Anchorage.
A third person was killed by an avalanche outside of Eagle River, north of Anchorage.
