It's 21 degrees and snowing lightly, with winds out of ... well, all directions. Anchorage is not often a windy city, unless you live a couple thousand feet up the hillside. In that case, you get quite a lot of breeze.
That breeze will be in the neighborhood of 85 mph today, if AccuHunch is guessing correctly. Anchorage will get about half that, although it remains to be seen how accurate that is. Points not far south of us could get 16" of snow today, along with that wind. Accordingly, the weather gurus have issued a blizzard warning for them.
Not so for Anchorage, but that's okay. Any snow at all will be an aid to the Iditarod's ceremonial start tomorrow. After years of working at the starting line, I'm thinking of staking out a spot down the trail to take some new pics, and maybe some movie footage. We'll see how early I can get myself motivated tomorrow morning. New pics with the new camera would be nice, I keep telling myself.
Speaking of the Iditarod, the final count of starters is 71 teams. It's a good crowd; roughly 3/4 of them will finish the race, if previous trends hold true.
Oops - time to get dressed & mosey. Here's a link to your daily dose of globular worming hoaxes.
TTFN!
