Legislative Update 4/15/10

From the Anchorage 2nd Amendment Task Force:

Congratulations are in order. HB 186 (Alaska Firearms Freedom Act - Paul) has passed all the committees and is waiting for a Senate vote. We expect it to pass the Senate vote and be on it's way to the Governors desk soon. Many thanks to all of you that contacted legislators on behalf of HB 186. HB 186 would not be where it is with out you.

There are several bills that pertain to arms that we are monitoring. HB 381 (removes the need to retreat from deadly threats - Paul) was passed to the Senate Juciary Committee. HB 381 is the so called "Make my day!" bill. HB 381 will make life a little better for the just man that has to defend himself or others. We didn't expect it make it this far this session but it's doing very well.

HB 319 followed HB 186 to the Senate floor. HB 319 which cleans up a few issues with CCW permits and requires approval from law enforcement for Class III licenses will probably pass this session.

We will create a chronology of the votes on a couple of these bills after the session. You will be able to identify who the friends and enemies of the 2nd amendment are very easily from that. We'll have it posted on the website when it's completed.
