The Week Begins

Good morning. We warmed up a bit overnight, to 41 degrees. The temp has been cooling since I got up, and it's back down to 36. Just for the record, both temps are above normal for this time of year ... especially the overnight period. Clouds, don'tcha know; we get that whole 'heat island' thing going on, with the mountains blocking a lot of the cooling winds.

Migrating geese are passing through Anchorage on their way to their summer nesting grounds. There are pictures in today's paper about it, for those who are bird-oriented.

I mentioned on Saturday that we took the snow tires off of both vehicles that morning. Naturally, the weather gurus have been bleating about more snow coming, ever since. They forecast accumulation for Saturday night - of course! - but it didn't even rain.

Now they're saying the same thing for today, one inch 1 to 3 up to 4 inches tonight, and maybe more tomorrow. Yeah, right. Because, you know, like, the sun is shining & stuff.

But I did my part - I washed the truck this morning, on the way to work. If that doesn't make it rain, I don't know what will.

Jenny from A Call to Wings tells me that tomorrow is Ladies' Night at the Palmer pistol range. One of the range officers will have an assortment of automatic firearms there, for the adventurous of heart.

Wildlife officials are alerting us that bears are beginning to leave their dens. Stay on your toes, Alaskan folk.
