The Week Begins: Open Carry Monday

The Anchorage 2nd Amendment Task Force is sponsoring its Open Carry March, downtown in Town Square this afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30. Should be interesting. They participated in the 4th of July parade last year as an open carry event, and the crowd's response was amazingly supportive.

A friend's friend was recently robbed, apparently as part of a gang initiation. He was making a quick run for fast food, and wasn't armed. He won't make that mistake again; read about it here.

The local fish-wrapper reports that the last of the disputed ballots from the April election have been counted (only took 10 days; they must have started using their toes) and the results are to be verified tomorrow by the City Clerk. It seems that Speedy Delivery has really slowed down since Mr. McFeely's retirement.

It stayed above freezing again. We woke up in the middle of the night, and had to open the window all the way. It was WAY too warm in the house. I hope we acclimate to these warmer temps soon; otherwise, summer is going to be an issue. Groggy & grumpy are no way to go through life.

We've finished the spring cleaning, and the house is ready for summer guests. My parents will be here on the 29th, for a few days, and then the mom-in-law comes up in late June. Some other friends may come up in August, if their plans work out. We haven't seen them in a number of years, and a get-together would be nice. It was a little tough, moving to a new community some 3,000 miles away from one's friends and family.

We've made new friends, of course, but there's something about getting together with somebody you've known for well over 30 years. We can't wait.

AccuHunch says we'll be in the mid-40s again today, and they're calling (again) for rain tonight. Hmph. I'll believe that when it actually happens.

Love your Mr. McFeely reference.

Terry and I will be in the neighborhood sometime in July. Hope you can spare a couple of hours for friends you've never met.

I'm looking forward to it, friends.
