OR "People of the (nail)gun"...
We have roofers. We've had roofers since Friday, and they're back again today, along with their ever-present compressor and nail gun.
Why does it take them so long? I'm glad you asked ... it seems that when you arrive late and leave early, and take hourly breaks ... why, the hours seem to fly by!
The swift completion of the job, not so much.

Tell you what...YOU go up on a roof in the middle of a sunny, warmer than average day and try not to take those hourly breaks.
As to why they don't work early in the day...noise? If it was me I'd be up there at 6 AM (probably closer to 5 AM in your neck of the woods) trying to beat the heat of the middle of the day.
You are paying by the job and not the hour, right?
