Just had a strong-ish quake ... things rattled & rolled for a bit. My third-floor tenants tell me some things fell over - no reports of strength or damages, yet.
UPDATE @ 1:55 pm - it was a 4.95 quake, 13 miles WSW of Anchorage. We received both P- and S-waves, with a couple of sharp bumps, followed by side-to-side shaking that lasted for several seconds.
Some things in the second and third floor supply areas fell off the shelves, but no one was hurt.
UPDATE #2 @ 2:17 pm - The official strength of the 'quake is now listed at 4.92, three-hundredths weaker than first reported ...
Well. I feel MUCH better. :)

Here in Anchorage on the 6th floor of my office building just rattled and rolled too for at least a minute!
Please post up when were you find out any information of the magnitude of the earthquake.
I'll check back when riverbeds rise and mountains explode... THOSE are real Alaskan seismic events...
What you all felt was propably Murkowski slapping her forehead against a wall trying to figure out where she went wrong, and what she is doing mounting a write-in campaign...
Kinda scary. I don't like the whole earth moving concept.
@threecollie - none of us do, but short of being airborne or in orbit, where else you gonna go?
Heh that three-hundredths makes all the difference. ;-) Stay away from heavy objects that might fall on you!
I am just glad that you and your family are safe. Does Alaska have a strict building code, like California?
As far as I'm aware, it's the strongest 'quake code in the U.S.
