Aviation in Alaska isn't just a hobby; it's the lifeline by which food and supplies, medical personnel, hunters, tourists and so on, get around this huge territory. We have more planes than automobiles, and always have had. Some 90 per cent of Alaskan villages aren't even connected to a road system, and are accessible only by air.
There's a slide-show called "My Favorite Planes: Alaska Aviation" here.

In my next life I want to come back as a bush pilot in the 1950-80 time period. A Beaver for business and a Super Cub for personal use. (Everyone needs a commuter vehicle.)
