On seeing my sonic screwdriver, younger daughter Samantha had to get one, too. Her line:

Sam's probably right on this. Just remember how reliable the time circuits on the Tardis were in the earlier days of the Doctor's travels. When there were more Time Lords and thus more sonic screwdrivers around. ;-)
