Kenai River - Forest Closed Due to Bears

In a story from the Anchorage Daily News:

... wildlife refuge managers have closed 29 acres of woods around the popular Russian River ferry because of bear activity. ... Sows with cubs have been seen in the area, according to the statement, from Janet Schmidt, supervisory ranger.

It's a VERY popular fishing/camping spot. Read more at the link.

Apparently the bears like to camp and fish there too!
(BTW Link gives a 404 response.)

Oddly enough we've had an unusual number of bear sitings down here in MA. They generally stay farther north so it's been making headlines. Have to wonder what's bringing them south. Interesting.
