At 6:00 a.m., as we finished our second cup o' joe, a 5.6-magnitude 'quake hit some 50 miles southwest of Talkeetna, or 70 miles northwest of Anchorage. The shaking didn't last long, but the initial jolt was sharp enough to cause my Better Half to stagger slightly while standing at the kitchen counter.
It did add a bit of emphasis to that morning coffee.
The epicenter was
out in the middle of nowhere near Skwenta (apologies to Skwenta-ites), and we've heard no alerts or reports of injuries, but it's only been 23 minutes. Stay tuned.

Be careful up there!
So what woke you up more, the shaking or the coffee?
Man, and I thought only our local roaster BlackDog produced coffee with that sort of kick!
Good thing you had finished your cup of joe. You don't want to spill a drop of that stuff early in the day.
Bob - always!
Matt - we'd been up for an hour, but the 'quake definitely got our attention!
PH - I hear you. We drink only locally-roasted coffee: Silverhook's Kodiak or Sportsman's Blend roasts.
Joated - absolutely. It's too precious to waste.
Glad everything is okay!
Stay safe my friend.
