Sunday Prayer for America

After watching the goings-on in Washington DC, as our elected officials ignore the Constitution, and announce that they're taking our freedoms and our very liberty away from us for our own good ... it would be hard ... no, make that impossible to argue that the traditional America still exists.

We who follow Jesus were commissioned to be on our guard, to watch the walls, until He returns. He commanded us to be watchful, and we have failed on that commission.

We have not stayed wide-awake. The night is coming and we slumbered while its minions tiptoed past. And now they're running flat out while we struggle to catch up.

We have failed ... but our God is a good and gracious God, and He allows us another chance. We need to dust off those old Bibles, read up, and pray up. America as we know and love her has not gone completely. The dream is still within reach

Remember that our God is the Lord of all, and is He who gives life to the dead, and calls things which are not as though they are.

"Father, we confess that we have not been faithful to our charge, and have allowed evil to flourish while we busied ourselves with other things.

But we know that you are the God of second chances, and we ask now that you forgive us, and lead us as we take our country back. We honor you and seek to restore it as a shining beacon of hope and freedom, established in the freedom to worship you as you deserve to be worshipped.

Please guide our thoughts and actions in the days ahead, and show us how to fight back effectively. We humble ourselves and declare that you, and you alone, are God - and that we cannot do this without your help.

In Jesus' name we ask it. Amen!"

Amen and I hope more and more of us recognize what's going on. If God doesn't get a hold of us, the devil will.

I agree our country needs to repent. Our list of sins is long, our frequency of commission is high and our "time in service" dates back a long way. I'm less convinced that it is God's design for us to take it back. If it _is_ God's design, then by all means, let's do that. However, by what means do we determine (or have we determined) that we are not in a situation like Israel was in Numbers 14? Forgivness (after sincere repentance) does not always equal removal of consequences, and as a nation we've been spitting in God's eye for a long time.

I'm afraid I think Ben is right. I believe we have no choice but to reap the consequences of what we've sown one way or the other. I'm fairly sure that ending up in a world of hurt is what's going to give us the "chance" to repent. That will be what gives us a chance to avoid total destruction (likely a sort of self destruction). I don't see any prophets out there though. No Billy Grahams, no voice in the wilderness. That concerns me.

I believe a while back you queried how people felt. Did kind of a gut check to see if anyone thought about giving up. I have never thought about giving up but I do believe the current war or battle is lost. We're going down. There's no stopping it. It's gonna be ugly and very costly but we've done it to ourselves as is human nature. Currently I hope to find a way to get through it yet God does not see fit to let me prepare the way I need to. Ah well, when you're the Almighty I suppose you can do what you like and bring those you wish through whatever storm is under you command.

I wish you all the best. I hope I can fix my situation so that I can better my chances but that's out of my hands at the moment. I've seen this coming for quite some time and have been just unable to do anything about it. I've recently been blessed with a nice 7.3 liter diesel truck that can tow my RV. Maybe I can make it to Alaska in that ;)
