Another Step Closer

to winter.

The snow today is down around the 3,500 to 4,000 foot elevation on the peaks above town. We haven't been above 51 degrees all day (or yesterday, either, at my place) and the skies are gray and foreboding. It rained all night, and leaves are falling in earnest. I took these pics with my cell phone as I left work ... I keep telling myself to remember my digital camera, and one of these days I will.

That's life above the 61st parallel; your mileage may vary.

Sure we did - summertime in Alaska is a delightful affair of rich greenery, abundant wildlife, and temps in the upper 60s and low 70s. Lots of sunlight & frequent brief showers. It's not summer by most Lower 48 standards, but we're on a whole different part of the planet.

It snowed in Switzerland. Earliest anyone can remember.

I wonder if Al Gore was visiting there?

Yeah, but it only lasts, like, a week...

PH, I'm get a distinct impression you wouldn't like Alaskan weather. Our growing season is roughly 100 days ... short by your standards, I'm sure. :)
