The trip to the range yesterday was problematic for both my shooting buddy and me, but I didn't want to give the impression that it was nothing but problems.
She and I both shot reasonably well, and had a good time. One of the benefits of the Appleseed training that Jenny received was the advice to slow down, make your shots count, and then record what you've done. This has the benefit of focusing one's mind on the task at hand, as well as noticing that it keeps the barrel from getting really hot (as it would if one tried to bludgeon the target into submission with a hail of bullets).
As noted in yesterday's post, the firing line was full, and there were always 2 or 3 shooters awaiting a position on the line, each time I happened to glance over my shoulder at the office. Two weeks ago, that waiting area had a dozen or more shooters waiting.
Wet Bunny Range isn't its real name, of course. It's the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range operated by the State of Alaska, with separate ranges for handguns, center-fire rifles, rim-fire rifles/BB guns/pellet guns, and shotguns. There are two five-stand sporting clay fields as well. But "Wet Bunny" is funnier. So sue me. :) There's a much nicer range about 40 miles north of here, at Chugiak, but Wet Bunny simply has the advantage to me of being only three miles from my house.
It was a good day, we had fun ... and isn't that the way it's supposed to be?
So today, although it's currently in the mid-40s and overcast, we'll barbeque some filet mignon and chicken (for different meals, natch) and generally enjoy ourselves. Looks like most of the neighbors are gone for the weekend, so it should be quiet around the ol' homestead.
Have a great day, friends ... and thanks for stopping by.
