Time to Turn Out the Lights

I've been writing here for some three and one-half years, and it's been a blast. I've "met" lots of folks on-line, a few in person, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. But it's also no secret that I've struggled during the past year to muster the enthusiasm necessary to keep writing.

While on vacation, I realized without much surprise that I didn't miss blogging. At all. I haven't had a lot to say, other than about a few trips to the range & some pictures from Hawaii, since I returned.

So that's it. I will continue to read my favorite blogs, and leave comments as before, but have no idea when - or if - I'll post again.

It's been a pleasure, folks, and I'm proud to know the fine folks which comprise this "community". Take care of yourselves, keep your powder dry, and may God bless each and every one of you.

Paul

UPDATE: Okay, okay, I surrender! After these comments, and some two dozen private e-mails (that's not a lot for some of you, but it's a BUNCH for me), I am merely going to lay low for an indeterminate period of time, and then... and then I'll see what happens.

Thank you all.

I'll miss reading your stuff. Stop by and comment at my place, if I say something profound. Can't imagine that being too often.

I hate to hear this, but must confess, I've had similar feelings.

Ah heck, and here I just came to know you and enjoy your work. I understand though, and please, drop by and comment when you have the time. Now, go read. Until then...

Sad, but understandable. Thanks for being an online friend and for keeping us posted on your world. Take care.

That makes me a bit sad. But: I'm OK with knowing you are doing what you feel is best.

Please keep the blog there, even if dormant.

I'll be happy when you visit.

Sorry to hear this Rev., but I understand.

Drop by anytime.

Allow me to dissent. I hope you will reconsider. You have had more of an impact than you will ever know. We need liberty-loving individuals to be the new revolutionaries.

New media provides you with a voice that is truly world-wide. I have found many of your posts to be uplifting and look forward to your passionate defense of liberty and states' rights each day.

We lose an important advocate with your absence, my friend.

I want to say that I am saddened to hear this news.

Please take what I am about to say to heart, we have all lost something very special today. While I completely understand the loss of enthusiasm and not having a desire to post (I experience this all the time myself) I also understand what the world looses each time one of us gives in.

Somedays we wonder if we are making a difference and believe that nothing would be lost or missed if we were not involved. Maybe our purpose is only to touch one person, to change one person. I believe your blog is important and we are losing a great ally and friend in our fight for freedom.

Take care of yourself, refresh your mind and soul, and when you feel up to it again we will be anxiously waiting for you write once more. God has used this blog in maginficent ways we cannot even begin to imagine. Never forget that.

Heh.
I understand the burnout factor in trying to stay current, but, heck, what will this SouthEasterner read from the gorilla that is the Anchorage bowl?
You will be missed.

Rev, hate to see you go, but you gotta do what you gotta do... Stay safe and I'll leave the link up for a while in case you change your mind. Truly enjoyed reading your posts, and value your comments.

Consider hiatus. Speaking from experience.

I for one read every post, and would wish other than to see this door close.

et al: ditto

You're my preacher...I've grown used to a daily sermon from Rev Paul.

But all things must change ... we'll hope for your return ... and your safe being should you decide your path leads a different direction

SO HAPPY to hear this! Take as much time as you need or like to. We will be here on your return.

So can I call you Shepard Paul? LOL!

Was offline most of this week, so my statement is late - but yes, glad to see you're staying with it.

We all need a mental break now & then. Hope yours helps.

Keep. Posting.

America needs you.

Rev, I hope you return to us. I for one check your blog daily. I miss Alaska and you're my daily fix in that regard. Not to mention you've got some great insight and are a true patriot. You will be missed.

Paul, I hope you don't leave. Enjoy reading your stuff. But if you don't like doing it, I can fully understand. Life is too short to spend it doing stuff we're just not that into. I will miss your blog if you leave, and will fully understand your decision, but still, I hope you don't.

Whether you take time off or walk away, I hope you thoroughly enjoy the freedom from the self-imposed burden of posting content.

Take care, take time to do something you like, and have fun!

An additional thought...

Seems - IIRC - this was the feeling Hank Reardon had toward the end ... before he found a better society.

I would not be surprised to see this effect ripple through this "community" as it gets closer to time to hunker down.

Good luck.

In your time Reverend. Thank you!

Glad some earlier posters and emailers talked some sense into you. I would have missed your comments in insights.

Rev. P,

I completely understand. My personal philosophy is that I'll write something when I feel like it. I've never been one of these multi or even single post a day types of folk. God Bless 'em though. It's just not me.

I've always enjoyed your stuff and hope your update means you'll get a second wind eventually and the bug will bite again. Enjoy your rest!
