The Weather: It's -3 F. at my place this morning. The good news is that the winds have finally subsided, and AccuHunch Weather is calling for a high of 13 above with some sun. Sunlight at these temps doesn't accomplish much, but it's pretty to look at.
Effects of the Weather: Thousands of homes & businesses on the Kenai Peninsula (immediately south of Anchorage) were left without power from the strong winds over the last 48 hours. Repairs crews there report it may be sometime tomorrow before all have been restored. It's just a bit cold to be without heat, this time of year.
Stupid Human Tricks: A fight at a house south of Palmer led to one man shooting another Wednesday just after midnight, according to Alaska State Troopers. The two men were drinking and smoking marijuana when the fight broke out at a home on South Nissen Drive, troopers said. Apparently trying to stop the fight, one of the men pulled out a small-caliber handgun and shot the other combatant in the torso.
