Thanksgiving Treats

Those who have been reading my blog for any length of time know that my younger daughter has been preparing for a career as a chef since she was five years old.

She's 16 now, and working in the bakery of a five-star hotel in Anchorage. She was interning there, and they just put her on the payroll. The pastry chef for the hotel (one of the owners) is the guy who interested her in the field eleven years ago. He's now her boss, and everyone is happy with the arrangement.

Tonight she prepared several sweet potato pies for Thursday. Here are the before and after pics:
The filling in an unbaked crust, waiting for the topping.

A finished pie with streusel topping. The hard part will be keeping our hands off until Thursday.

One needs to assure quality control and make sure those pies are suitable for serving to guests.

Go at it and let us know if they pass.

Happy Thanksgiving
