This Old Car, Part 5

Repairs are done. Today, we get temp tags for the purpose of getting the emissions test performed & snow tires put on. When the test is passed, the paperwork for title/registration/licensing can be filed, and it's done.

The storm clobbering Alaska's west coast is not good, but life here in south-central AK goes on as before. The only effect (so far) is that clouds from the massive front have overshadowed what was supposed to be a clear pattern. It's 12 degrees this morning, instead of the sub-zero lows we were expecting. That's okay with us.

Busy day ahead - gotta go.

I can't believe Alaska has emissions testing, Florida did away with those over 15 years ago.

Nice you have the car up and running, and 'snow ready'.
Most of the rest of us in the lower 49 would be cowering in our parkas, instead!

Duke, the testing here is scheduled to end in early '12. Anchorage hasn't had a "non-compliance day" in nearly 20 years. At this point, the program is merely a money-making enterprise for the Muni of Anchorage.

GFA: Winter storms that paralyze most Lower 48 places are rather routine here. We just spend a bit longer clearing snow off the cars, and go to work.
