Two Anniversaries Worth Remembering

The U.S. Marines are 236 years old today. Semper fi!

And on this date 213 years ago, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Kentucky Resolutions. Among the most important points he made in that document is this:

"whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force"
Mr. Jefferson referred to the newly-created federal government as the "General Government", just so we're clear on who & what he was talking about.

This is the same Thomas Jefferson who became President of the United States just a few years later; are we to assume that statements made by former Presidents are null, void, and of no force? I rather think not. And if so, then some Progressive bozosgentlemen who have held that post more recently are in trouble. Are you listening, D.C.?

I didn't think so.
