Because our snow is so fluffy & dry, what's on the ground has compacted to roughly a foot deep. It does make things pretty and all, what with covering all the bare branches and dead grass. We like it.
AccuHunch is calling for a high just above 30 degrees today, and that'll be the warmest point for the next week ... or so they guess. By Monday, our daily temps will be hovering in the mid- to upper-teens; the good news is that we'll also have partly sunny weather. Of course, clearing skies means it will get very cold at night (snow on the ground + clear skies = lows near or below zero). We like that, too.
Here's what mid-town looks like, right now:

It may sound strange... but I would be happy with a bloody great snow storm here right about now.
Carteach, that's not strange to me at all ... but then, I'm an Alaskan. It does have a wonderful way of slowing things down - and quieting the noise of so-called civilization. It wouldn't surprise me, either, if that's your goal. :)
I woke to snow yesterday. It was gone by mid morning but I think this is as early as I've seen it. I like four seasons and don't think I'd want to live someplace wehre it didn't snow some.
Brigid - agreed.
We got our first snow of the season last night and it wasn't even in the forecast. We got about 2 1/2-3 in. It's a la Nina year so it is supposed to be a harsh winter here in the PACNW. We're about as ready as we can be. Got fuel, food, water, and gas.
