It's six below zero, and what isn't covered with snow is coated with a fresh layer of hoar-frost, this morning. There are some snow showers around town, although it doesn't seem to be snowing here ... but that could change.
Note to folks back in Missouri: that whole "it's too cold to snow" meme that you hear repeated annually is ... let's say, untrue. It snows at -25 here, and colder; it's just that the flakes are tiny & you can barely see them swirling like tiny crystals in the air. But at the current temperature, it could still provide some accumulation.
We went out last night & stood in knee-deep snow for a couple of hours, watching a friend and his brothers set off some pretty decent fireworks. I took my camera, but forgot I had it until they were nearly done. Here's one shot of a couple of small rockets going up:
Anchorage has an ordinance stating that it's illegal to set off fireworks within 200 feet of a neighbor's residence - a rule which seems to be universally ignored. We didn't see or hear anything resembling a police response to any of the very large displays going off around town.
Y'all have a fantastic day, and may God bless and keep you throughout the coming year. Now I'm going to put on another pot of coffee, and we'll wait for sunrise. That's about 10:12 a.m. today. (See? the days really are getting longer...)

Nice. We didn't watch fireworks last night...just too darn tired to worry about them..heard the booms though. Have a good one, my friend.
Thanks, Stephen.
Happy New Year to you!
Very cool picture! You should think about making gifs so we can watch in slow-mo :P
