Misguided efforts to combat online privacy have been threatening to stifle innovation, suppress free speech, and even, in some cases, undermine national security. As of yesterday, though, there’s a lot less to worry about.

The article said that the White House would veto the bill, but he was also going to veto the NDAA until Congress gave him control over that bill, then he signed it.
Don't worry, they'll change some wording up to suit BHO and then it'll get passed.
...and the Senate has a version of the same thing, so shelving SOPA my be a red herring.
