Why We Don't Trust Them Dept: "Former police lieutenant and current mayoral candidate Paul Honeman said he told APD higher-ups that he saw fellow officer Anthony Rollins engaged in sexual activity at work, about four years before Rollins was charged with forcing sex on women while he was in uniform." (emphasis added)

And then they bemoan the lack of trust from the community. Maybe if they weren't wearing blacked-out ninja suits with enough body armor, webbing & gear to take on the Taliban ... just a thought.

And one more thing, gentlemen (and ladies): you can quit referring to the citizens who pay your department's budget as "civilians". Unless the Army can send you to Afghanistan, you're civilians, too.

Kind of a Big Surprise Dept:  Alaskan Republicans selected Mitt Romney in their 'preference poll' yesterday, just edging out Rick Santorum. The fact that Ron Paul finished in 3rd place is one indication of how watered-down our population has become, via lots and lots of immigrants from the Left Coast. Alaskans traditionally have voted for less-traditional candidates, but I guess the frontier blood is thinned, these days. Dang it.

The skies are clearing, this morning, and I saw with delight that the eastern sky was lightening behind the mountains that form the east edge of town. It probably started a few days earlier, but we haven't seen much sky lately because of the frequent snowstorms. Nice.
