Season of Discovery

Each spring, we find all the things damaged or destroyed by the winter season, mostly due to the weight of all that snow. There's always something which you wouldn't expect. This morning I dug out the "no trespassing or parking" sign on our vacant lot across the street; it was knocked flat by the snowfall but is now sufficiently exposed that I could pull it out.

Three years of Alaskan wind & weather has also damaged the flag out front; I have a new one waiting for the guy with the cherry-picker to come hang it for us.  What's that? Why not put it up myself? The rope and pulley system, inside the pole, won't move. I've yanked on it to the point of rope burns, without success.

As Rosanne Rosannadanna said, "It's always something."
