It Hurts My Motor to Go So Slow Dept: We have three seasons in Alaska - last winter, next winter, and construction.
"Detours, lane closures and lower speed limits lie ahead for Anchorage drivers. Road construction projects are gearing up across the municipality, from Bird to Ninth Avenue. The city has about 30 road projects scattered around town..."
from www.adn.com
The Beatdown Goes On Dept: The trail of Shaeffer Cox, the militia leader who allegedly spearheaded a plot to assassinate a Federal judge and others, continues in Fairbanks. You can read about it here.
Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On Dept: Yesterday's quake wasn't 8 miles south of town, as originally published. It was literally under the south side of town, not far from our house. I'm just glad it wasn't stronger.
Texting While Drunk Dept: Two Bethel women "mistakenly" texted a State Trooper, trying to find someone to buy alcohol for them. Now they face charges for trying to buy black-market booze. Oops.
Bad Company Dept: Multiple bear sightings in the Turnagain Arm area (south/east of Anchorage) have prompted officials to issue safety warnings. Yeah, because people are too stupid to avoid large predators with big teeth and claws. Oh. Never mind.
And relatives in the Lower 48 wonder why I never leave the house unarmed.
