This "empty-nester" lifestyle* could be addictive.
With Older Daughter having her license (finally!) and Younger Daughter having discovered that it's fun when the two of them hit the road together, that leaves my wife & me free to do ... well, whatever.
Having spent the last 23+ years being parents and doing things that revolve around our daughters, we're liking this sudden freedom to do what we want, without having to wonder who else wants to go/wait for them to get ready and so on.
Does that make us bad parents? No, it's normal - so sayeth psychologists. We are rediscovering that it's fun to do things together, and that's the best part of all.
* No, they haven't moved out, but they're grown & out of school, and so can come and go as they please.

I hear you loud and clear. I couldn't love ours more, but every now and then, when everyone is gone...some of ours have moved out and I miss them, but...the house is a very, very peaceful place.
At least until the phone rings.
After all of us kids moved out and had been gone a few years, I asked my father how he liked having the house kid-free. He gave me a grin, and said mildly, "Well, I didn't marry your mother because I wanted children."
I knew better than to ask why his eyes were twinkling.
My stepson and his girlfriend will be moving out next spring now that she's completed college. Unfortunately they're taking our two dogs with them, so we'll really have an empty nest!
They're moving to the Colorado Springs area, and I'm slowly convincing my wife that we should follow them. Sure will be nice to get OUT of Kaliforniastan....
LOL, you WILL figure out things to keep you occupied...
