Another so-called "national" store will finally make an entry into the Alaskan market.
The 100,000-square-foot store, to be located on the south side of Anchorage near the intersection of W. 104th Avenue and C Street, will be Cabela's first in Alaska. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2013. The store is expected to employ approximately 200 full- and part-time employees.
This will be a MAJOR addition to what's available here; we currently have Sportsman's Warehouse, and that's it.
Cool.

That is cool!
You will like it...I am 25 minutes from Owatonna store, much goodness and yes it is pricey, but paying attention can often get a person some great deals...
MaddMedic - I've shopped Cabela's catalog for years, before moving up here, but never visited their store. I was only 5 miles from a Bass Pro Shop, so driving to another state (from Missouri) wasn't a priority. This WILL be a big deal.
We lost our Sportsman's Warehouse a while back. Scuttlebutt was that the big guy didn't like Texas for some reason. Too bad, it was a really nice store and had the best prices in town. We have a Bass Pro Shop though. Pretty much a Cabella's clone.
Are the prices on stuff a lot higher up there in retail stores than they are down here?
Groundhog, the prices at the big chain stores are roughly comparable, with some increase here & there due to shipping costs.
