Good morning. I'm up early, so perhaps a short post is in order.
It's partly cloudy and 57 degrees this a.m., and the weatherman is calling for a high near 70 today. Not bad, and we've had already had two sunny days in a row - something a feat for Anchorage, this year.
Arctic Thunder, the biennial airshow is today & tomorrow at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson here in town. This year's show includes the Army's Golden Knights parachute team, the Air Force Thunderbirds, a B-52 fly-by, an F-22 demonstration, and much more. They always feature some WWII-era aircraft, including (this year) a B-25 Mitchell bomber.
Friends are urging me to visit the airshow with them this afternoon, but I'm just now feeling more-or-less normal after a recent bout of illness. If I have any energy, I may just have to get over there.
Have a great weekend, friends, and thanks for stopping by.

awww... I miss Arctic Thunder. It's the gold standard of a "good airshow" to me now, and even if the ones down here are bigger, or better-promoted, they drastically lose out by not having all the base groups in friendly competition over their food and swag stalls.
There's something far more awesome about having a young gentleman call out to you from the 465th SOAR [off the cuff, not a real group] group's stall "You don't want their burgers! Ours are cooked by the best on base! Come on, contribute to our morale fund, and we'll be sure to raise your morale! Homemade burgers cooked with pure awesome! T-shirts to show you know who's the best!"
...yeah, no bored-looking employee in an official airshow corporation staff t-shirt under an officially-sanctioned food vendor tent can compete with that for charm and style.
Although, the clean-cut young men and women showing off their planes and MRAPS are just as enthusiastic, and just as "subtle" about slipping in requests for letting congresscritters know you support military funding, and wouldn't it be awesome if you could help us get funding to upgrade this ol' bird?
