The National Weather Service reports winds gusting to 131 mph at a point on the hillside above town, last night. Thousands were without power for much of the night (including us), and public schools - and UAA - are closed today.
Trees down, branches littering the roads ... fun and games. Later.
UPDATE: The roads are indeed littered with fallen trees, and power is still off in much of town. My building was dark for most of the night, with the lights back on about 6:00 this morning. Cell phones, landlines, and 'net service from one of Anchorage's two main providers is also offline.
Fun stuff.

Take care!
Yow. I hate high winds. I don't care if insurance WOULD pay for the damage, it still scares me.
Stay safe!
I look at it as a way to get a lot of the dead and weak limbs out of the way before you guys have a ton of snow on the ground and then have a nasty storm like this come through.
Kind of a test run.
Rev,
Stay safe, and watch out when out side for falling items. I hope you have another means of staying warm when the electric goes out and temperatures drop. Sending prayers for everyone up there!!!
Whatever you do, DO NOT go outside in your 1980s parachute pants! Other than that, stay safe and enjoy some time with your preps.
Stay safe my friend!
Oh, man, I hate the wind. You take care and stay safe!
All - thank you very much for your concern. We are safe, warm and dry, so not to worry.
Our grandparents would laugh if they could hear us fussing about the lack of cable TV, though. :)
