I believe we managed just fine.

It's a Savage Axis XP. Entry-level, to be sure, but Mel's first centerfire rifle. This one has a detachable, four-round box magazine and a 3-9x40 scope.
It's just under 44" long, with a 22" barrel, and weighs 6.5 lbs unloaded. We're heading back to the Birchwood Range this weekend so she can break it in.
She's a happy camper. For that matter, so's her dad. :^)

Nice!
Thanks!
What PH said! Nice!
Thank you, sir.
Super gift, Rev. Paul.
I keep hearing that Savages are the most accurate factory rifles out of the box these days, but I don't know if that applies to all models. Let us know how it works out for her.
Graybeard, will do. The owner's manual says the scope was "bore-sighted at the factory", so we'll have a pretty good idea this weekend. Stay tuned for AAR.
Another great gift. Someone is trying for father of the year.
If you are going to keep this up I don't have a father and I am willing to consider adoption;-)
DR, that had me laughing out loud; I needed that. :) Srsly though, I'd be proud to have a son like you.
Beaut!
Now she can go out and get some caribou!
Thanks, joated; that's ONE of her goals.
Rev. Paul, I can think of no greater compliment. Too bad my own dad didn't feel that way; I never met him.
Make sure you tell your daughters how lucky they are, not every one grows up with a father.
DR, I will pass that along. And thank you, again.
That is so very cool!
And yeah... those girls drew some pretty darn lucky straws in the parents God gave 'em to. :)
Thanks, Jenny. :^)
