to my younger daughter, the pastry chef. She's 17 today, and recently celebrated her one-year anniversary at the large hotel where she works.
This is where she works:
And this is some of what she makes:
Every chef has something they do that's just a bit better than others can do it. In the year she's been working, has become the go-to person for cupcakes, and especially the mini-cupcakes shown here. Each has some complimentary flavor of cream filling hand-injected in its center.
We are very, very proud of her.

Very nice fixin's there sir! Contrats to the birthday girl!!
So . . . do ya get a deal on the "mistakes"??? :)
gfa, sorry about the lack of warning, but you HAVE been here before; stuff happens. :^)
threecollie, thank you.
eiaftinfo, thanks. And yes, we do sometimes get the mistakes, but not nearly often enough. Heh.
I too agree, 'as well you should be.' What a wonderful talent. Please, give her my best wishes for a happy birthday.
What Guffaw said!
Happy birthday Chef Samantha!
Thank you, Stephen. I will certainly pass along your good wishes.
PH, ya just never know. :)
And thank you, DR. I hope you & your family are still thriving.
My a1C went up just looking at those.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
You're blessed in your daughter, and she in her parents. Well done, all of you. :-)
I wish we could find someone half so talented for our business.
drjim, just remember the extra unit or two of insulin before consumption. :) Thank you!
Bob, thank you very much.
zdogk9, I hope you find the perfect person. And welcome!
Happy Birthday!
Those pastries look just great! Wish I were there to sample a few.
Thanks, joated; she'll receive all these good wishes. The cupcakes are absolutely wonderful: moist, with creamy filling and rich flavors. Bite-sized goodness!
Happy Birthday to a very talented young lady. Now looking at those makes me feel hungry, again!
Thank you, AJD. Those things do have a way of getting to a person. :^)
Happy Birthday Samantha.
Thank you, Sandy.
That is great, you have reason to be proud!
Happy birthday to her - I hope the next year is even more awesome than the last one!
Despite all the precision, attention to detail, artistry, imagination, and care in all those cupcakes - for some reason, it was the decorated plate the really blew me away. Never seen anything like that before!
Thanks, NavyOne. Concur!
Wing, thank you. I'm glad you liked the plate - that was one of the few things that she didn't do well, right off the bat. Her ability is the result of two days of painstaking practice, learning to manipulate the frosting bag & form the letters legibly.
Congrats to her, and yep you're a proud Pappa! :-) Does she do take out???
NFO, thanks. And she does occasionally make a couple dozen for a party, on request - but after cooking/baking all day, she doesn't cook at home as often as she used to.
