Four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser was the first musher to reach the Yukon River when he arrived in the Anvik checkpoint at 2:17 a.m. Friday, Mar. 8, 2013.

This photo taken Thursday, Feb. 28, 2012, in Anchorage, Alaska, shows Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage executive chef Bobby Sidro in the hotel's kitchen. The hotel will fly Sidro to the tiny Western Alaska village of Anvik to prepare a seven-course gourmet meal for the first musher to reach this Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race checkpoint, the first on the Yukon River.

The lucky musher to collect the First to the Yukon award will be served the following meal prepared by Executive Chef Bobby Sidro. The meal would cost $99 at The Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage.
