Speaking of Boot Camp

I recently renewed contact with an old Navy friend. Mike and I went through boot camp together in 1973, and then I saw him again at A School in Orlando. We exchanged letters a few times after that, but lost touch over the years.

Among other things we've been discussing, I mentioned that my boot camp 'yearbook' was destroyed in a flooded basement (along with all my high school and college yearbooks, darn it!) some 30 years ago.

He still has his, and was kind enough to scan the few photos in which my skinny young face is featured.

In this one, I'm the tall, skinny one in the middle.

Did I mention young and skinny?

We thought these photos were lost to us forever. Thank you, Mike!

What a great photo (indeed you are tall) and so great that it wasn't lost to you forever.

You are the tallest one there! Glad you have some of your pictures now - bet they brought back some great memories for you!

Brigid, I've never forgotten the pictures, but didn't think I'd ever see them again with my eyes.

Chickenmom, I'm not unusually tall, but clearly the tallest in that photo. :) And now, thanks to the passage of time, I'm 3/4" shorter than I was then.

I don't even know where those books are... sigh

Thanks, threecollie. :)

NFO, I know where mine would be ... if I still had them. Boxed, in the garage. Ah, well.

Rev. Paul,

It's great to follow up and keep in contact with a military buddy.
I'm happy to hear Mike was able to copy several photographs for you.

You sure are young there my friend!

Sandy, it feels like last summer, but ... yes. VERY young. :)
