"If a juror feels that the statute involved in any criminal offense is
unfair, or that it infringes upon the defendant's natural God-given
unalienable or Constitutional rights, then it is his duty to affirm that
the offending statute is really no law at all and that the violation of
it is no crime at all, for no one is bound to obey an unjust law."
~ U.S. Chief Justice Harlan F. Stone (1941-1946)

That quote could start a month-long conversation.
Wow.
BTW. That's a lovely prayer under your banner.
Thank you :)
And that pix is awesome.
Thank you, Cathy, for those kind remarks. And you're welcome.
This from the comment section under the latest VDH pieceFinally, the rule of law is only virtuous when the law protects individual rights. When the law becomes immoral, strict adherence to the law ceases to be a virtue. This is why rules following cultures (say, Germany) turn to unspeakable evil when their government is taken over by evil, while non rules following cultures (say, Brazil) are amazingly robust to bad government and immoral law.
On the other end, without the rule of law you can never really rise out of the banana republic stage."
