Speaking of Fall ...

Yesterday, we only made it to 61 degrees. Although AccuHunch swears we'll be in the mid-60s for the rest of the week, they also think it'll be 10 degrees cooler next week.

Our summers tend to begin about six weeks after starting in the Midwest, and end about six weeks earlier than that.

So ... twelve weeks less summer than in the Lower 48?  Pretty much. Local farmers say the growing season is only about 100 days long, and that's only because we have such long daylight hours.

Yesterday morning, it was dark enough that we had to turn on lights at 5 a.m., for the first time since May. And that means that we'll be doing it until next May.

Now you know why we get fussy about the short summers here.

 Sigh ...

61, sigh... I'll dream of that while I fry at 102 at 8PM here... On the plus side, any month now we should start seeing highs in the 80's!

Groundhog, we spent years baking in the Midwestern heat waves, so I understand. The summer right before we moved here had highs of 112 for several weeks.

Don't miss it at all.

Yep. It does that.
