Wasilla Police Blotter

Yes, you read that correctly: not Dutch Harbor, this time.

An Alaska state trooper had to swerve out of the way Saturday evening to avoid a Wasilla man participating in a car race down Pittman Road, troopers said.

Miles Walker, 34, was arrested for reckless driving, troopers said. Walker and Scott Parker, 38, of Wasilla were cited for racing on the roadway.

Walker and Parker were racing down Pittman when Walker's 2005 Subaru went into the oncoming lane at a high rate of speed around a blind curve and into the trooper's path, according to a troopers dispatch. The trooper took evasive action to avoid Walker's car. Alcohol was a contributing factor, troopers said.

Drinking, driving too fast, and running a State trooper off the road? I can't begin to count the stoopid!

Rev. Paul,

Wasilla, Alaska....beautiful little town. Driving and or racing don't mix with alcohol. Some of these people just don't get it.

Some people are just special.

Sandy, Wasilla isn't so little anymore; it's changed a LOT since the highway was from two lanes to six lanes through town. But it's still a beautiful part of the state. :)

PH, aren't they, just?

Be a good bar story in, say, about two years.

WSF, that it would. But I'd bet the trooper is already telling it to his compadres: "And then that idiot pulled right out in front of me. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I got 'im!" (At least, the officers I knew would tell it that way...)

One of the assistant instructors at Sunday's class is from Alaska. He grew up in Fairbanks, and moved here to SoCal after college.

Heh, yep, THAT is gonna leave a mark (or three) on his driving record!

It was an Alaskan who joined the CHP who uttered a line I've never forgotten: "Guns in Alaska are like drugs in California. Everybody's got some."

NFO, points are gonna be the least of him problems, for now. :)

If you're going to be dumb, you've gotta be tough, especially in the Mat-Su!

Nice play on the phrase, and 1,000 interwebz points for working it in! :)
