To Blog, or Not to Blog

If there's anyone who ever wondered why Hawaii is a popular destination, click on the photo and study it.  :)

We've been back in Anchorage only since 5:00 this morning, and I learned - a long time ago - that it's never a good idea to make a decision when you're tired. I'll get back to that in a moment.

We're exhausted, having vacationed long and hard (that's usually a good thing), and got little-to-no sleep on the overnight flight from Honolulu. The plane was full, the ride was a bit more turbulent than usual, and the landing was one of the more ... interesting ... that I've experienced since that old Navy C-3 with the port engine that caught fire upon landing. Every time. But I digress.

This time, the 737-900 hit the tarmac, bounced twice, and then swerved sideways. Amazing how quiet those 189 passengers got when that big jet described a sinuous course of S-curves down the runway.

So the decision I face is whether to pick up the proverbial pen and take to blogging again. Honestly, I haven't missed it. At all. But I need to get some actual sleep ... and then?

And then we'll see. In the meantime, I appreciate those of you who've faithfully stopped by to see if I'm still around.

Glad you're back safe and sound. That landing must have been all the aerobics you needed for the day.

Never been to Hawaii. It's a long way from the east coast.

Thank you, my friend. I understand about the "long way" from much of the Lower 48. It seemed that way from the Midwest, too. It's only a 5 1/2 hour flight from Anchorage, which puts it no farther away than Minneapolis - and arguably much more fun. :)

I would prefer you not quit blogging.

I went through a likewise thought process a short while ago.

May I suggest... just let it sit there for now. It doesn't cost you a penny, and will be there intact if you wish to take it up again.

I enjoy your writings, but my notion is you should be doing it for yourself, not others.

What Carteach said. I have been struggling too, not with the desire to blog, but with nothing to say. Nothing. This is not a good time of year for me. We will be here to read, when the muse leads you to write....meanwhile thanks for all you have written.

Your blog is always a bright spot on my day, so any and every new post is appreciated.

Welcome back. Hope everybody had dry drawers in their luggage.

Appreciate you posts but sometimes there's just not anything inside or everybody else is already discussing it.

So just let it sit, get some rest, and decide later.

Rev. Paul,

Welcome back home!!! It sounds as if you and your Sweet Wife have a wonderful time in Hawaii.

You surely would be missed if you decided to no longer blog.

Welcome home, glad you survived the landing, and yes please blog. You were sorely missed.

Glad you're back, safely.
As for blogging, whatever floats your boat!
If you don't, many would miss you, though. (no guilt)
:-)

Glad you're home safe and sound, if a bit tired.

I usually need a few days to recover after "vacation", so I know how you feel!

I haven't written much lately, either. I think my muse is taking some time off!

Welcome back! Glad you had fun. :D I'm thinking it's a bit of a shock to the system to go from Hawaii to Alaska at this time of year. LOL.

I hope you'll keep blogging, but as always, it's up to you. I can't talk much, my blogging has been abysmal lately.... like the last 3 years or so. ha!

Matt, I probably won't; can't seem to stay away. :)

Thank you, Carteach0. That's good advice.

Threecollie, thank you, too. I suspect I'll probably write in spurts.

Thank you, ML - that's kinda the way I'm leaning, now.

PH, I'm just glad it happened at the end of the flight, rather than at the beginning. Heh.

Thanks, Sandy.

Stephen, that's nice of you to say. Thank you.

Guffaw, you probably can't get rid of me that easily. :)

Preppy, I have some vague recollection of something almost, but not quite, exactly unlike blogging before (with apologies to Douglas Adams).

drjim, I feel so much better today, that I probably only need one more good night's sleep to be human again. Heh.

Teresa, no matter how mentally prepared we were, that -7 degrees was a bit of a shock to the system, this morning. But we were expecting it.

We will love you no matter what you choose my friend.

Chickenmom: yes, ma'am! :)

Thanks, DR. I'll work on that project this weekend. They're predicting snow.

Thank you, Six. I appreciate that more than I can say.

Y'all keep blogging. Miss D. needs her daily dose of Alaska! Besides, we'll be back up there one of these days, and we'll have to have some way to exchange pictures and stories of what we did at the reunion . . .

;-)

Rev. Paul said...

Peter, that's one of the best reasons I've read to keep at it. And I'm looking forward to seeing you & Miss D again, too. :)

1. I'm not enough of a masochist to click and enlarge that picture. ;-D

2. As for that bumping and 'sinuous ' landing . . .
YIKES !!!!!!!

3. Continue blogging ?
Yes, please.
At a pace that matches your day-to-day variations in energy, time and inspiration.
Your friends will always check in.

Thank you, Cathy. It's words like yours that fueled my subsequent decision to stick around a bit longer. I appreciate it very much.
