Alaska Among States Chosen by FAA for Drone Tests

The Federal Aviation Administration announced six states on Monday that will develop test sites for drones, a critical next step for the unmanned aircraft's march into U.S. skies.

The agency [named] Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia as states that will host research sites.

Tests?  I suspect some hunters & trappers will be testing their anti-drone rounds, too.

Not saying I condone that; but it's practically inevitable given Alaskan's general character.

Dont know why but i suddenly thought
30-06 tracer could be fun.

Perhaps so, but then there's that whole "federal retribution" thing to consider. :)

As soon as I saw that I thought "Pull!"

Yup. I'm pretty sure that'll happen, too.

Don't mistake Milspec drones for Amazon!

Won't the big smile on the Amazon drones keep 'em safe?

One of the locations is over the mountain at Virginia Tech. I doubt they will fly over this way though, probably just stay around campus. lol

I'm guessing there'll be some trappers, hunters, or privacy-seekers out in the Bush who will try to bring one down. The weather & terrain will probably account for more, though.

Weather is NOT going to be their friend up there... But good luck to them!

Griffiss in NY is a little southwest of my Adirondack Bolt Hole. I've had military jets and choppers fly overhead in the past. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled...and the rifle handy.

Agreed, NFO - and you should know!

joated, I'd have a tough time disagreeing with you.
