Actor Russell Johnson, best known as "the professor" in the 1960s TV sitcom "Gilligan's Island," died Thursday, his agent said. Johnson was 89.
Johnson played the iconic role of Professor Roy Hinkley, whose scientific schemes to get the castaways rescued were always foiled by Gilligan's bumbling.
I feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Baby-Boomers cried out, and felt old ...

Oh boy. Makes me feel so old :(
Yep old here too... sigh... May he Rest In Peace.
Cathy, I hear you. Me, too.
Concur, NFO!
Makes me feel so darn old. Ah the memories.
I am so sad, sad because our tv characters are dropping over like flies and then comes the thought that I will drop over like a fly too...not a good thought.
May we all leave such happy memories as he did, Stephen. I suspect that you will.
denimflyz, that is the way of all life, as you know. All things pass. Rather, let us concentrate on leaving warm & loving memories behind, in those who love us.
He was always a favorite so I looked him up on Wikipedia yesterday. Quite a military career.
" He joined the Army Air Corps in World War II, and earned the Purple Heart when his B-24 Liberator was shot down in the Philippines during a bombing run in March, 1945." That earns my respect, right there.
Very lovely, Rev. Paul :

Thank you, Cathy. I appreciate that.
And then there were two. Tina Louise and Donna Wells are all that remain from that three hour tour that yielded so many laughs.
Sad but true. Oh well, I'll be passing by that small boat marina again in a couple of months, and will remember them.
