Project Empty Nest

Our daughters are 99.8% out now, with only a few odds & ends remaining. A box here, a basket there.

The entire first floor is now empty, save for our coats and the washer & dryer. 60 to 70 percent of the things stored in the garage went with them, and it looks empty now, too.

In a couple of days, we'll start taping in preparation to repainting that level. After that, new carpet throughout. Then the master bedroom moves from 2nd to 1st floor, and the other bedroom there becomes a guest room.

The previous master will be the office-slash-den-slash-music room.

After that, we sell the living room suite, and move the bookshelves into the library. Then fresh paint and new carpeting on the stairs and 2nd floor, too.

This is going to be fun. :)

Have fun. I hate (using the word, hate here) painting. Book shelves, all I'm saying.

Stephen, I'm with you. Fortunately, my wife thinks it's a great thing - so I tape, and take down mirrors, and she paints like a champion.

My wife's first husband (May God rest his soul)was a professional painter, and she knows all the tricks.

She completely redid the "kids room" in one weekend!

Just don't over extend yourself. Painting uses a lot of "bending and stretching" muscles that probably haven't seen much use lately, so please don't hurt yourself!

I hear you, drjim. Roger wilco, and all that.

Gah, I HATE painting. Good luck!

Me, too, Kelly. Since my Better Half likes it, I'm more than willing to let her have at it! And thanks.

Understood, NFO. At least there's no time constraint. :)

Wow, bet it will look nice! And when you are done, I've got a couple walls that need repainting in my place...

I think you're right, PH, but I doubt we'll take it on the road. :)

I think I'm trying to convince myself, Guffaw - and it's not working well. But it'll be nice when all the work's done.
(repeat until convinced)
