Friday: End O' The Week

That's a BIG Oops Dept:  In a case of mistaken identity, a Palmer couple was informed that their adult son had been killed in a traffic accident -- only to find him alive and well when they arrived at his front door in Anchorage.
... It would not have been unusual for Justin, a biologist, to travel to Juneau. The Priests called the Juneau Police Department to confirm the identification and the department said he was the victim.

It turned out that the real accident victim had the same name, but he was a different age with a different birthdate and middle name. Juneau police said they notified his family Thursday afternoon.

You Can't Always Get What You Want Dept: Progressives all across Alaska are crying in their cereal this morning:

Prosecutors won't proceed with charges in a brawl that involved several members of the Palin family, Anchorage police said Thursday.

The news comes as Anchorage police released reports Thursday morning outlining witness statements in the fight.

That Sinking Feeling Dept:  A sinkhole temporarily stranded a delivery truck in a downtown Anchorage alleyway Thursday afternoon, forcing the municipality to shut down G Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues as a tow truck maneuvered to pull it out.

The sinkhole was caused by work on the sewer line completed early last week, Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility spokesperson Chris Kosinski said. The work destabilized the alley more than they realized.

On Thursday afternoon, the Specialty Imports delivery truck was stuck lopsided, its back right tire suspended above the sinkhole that appeared to be about 3 feet across and 3 feet deep.

Chickenmom - you're being horribly unfair to Florida: their sinkholes swallow houses! :)

Regarding that sinkhole:
We take so much for granted. The infrastructure that makes it all work.

You're correct on both points, Cathy.
