Excerpt:
ANCHORAGE - Family members of a Wisconsin man who planned a sightseeing trip across Alaska have reported him missing, after not hearing from him since August.

Roger Yaeger, 72, arrived in Alaska over the summer, according to his brother Dale Yaeger. As an avid birder and fan of the outdoors, Yaeger's plan was to make several stops throughout the state over the next few months.

On Aug. 8, he visited his nephew David who lives in Wasilla and told him he was going to head back to Fairbanks.

"All I could get out of him was he was going to spend some time north of Fairbanks in an area where there were bears," David Yaeger said.

... The case is the latest of several high-profile missing persons cases in 2014. In May, a Kenai family of four disappeared, prompting a massive search effort from family, the community and law enforcement. Brandon Jividen, his girlfriend Rebecca Adams and her two young daughters, Jaracca and Michelle Hundley, along with the family's dog, vanished.

Maybe the bush people in one of the Alaska "reality" shows I watched while in Detroit got 'em.
