Just can't believe it was that long ago. It was big news even here in Jersey. My BIL was the AF stationed in Alaska and he sent photos home.
Time certainly does move right along. I remember seeing pictures on the local news in St. Louis, too.
If it happened today, it would be blamed on climate change.

I remember photos of downtown Anchorage where the first floor of buildings on one side of the street were suddenly basement level while the first floors across the street were looking into the second floor.
The changes over in Valdez--the entire town had to be moved!?!--were equally astounding.
Hard to imagine what it was like to live through something like that.

joated, that hole in 4th Avenue of which you speak is the modern-day site of the 4th Avenue Marketplace. I managed that building, among others, for four years. The largest earthquake exhibit in AK is inside.
Cathy & Sandy - yes, it would be blamed on a) global warming, b) oil exploration, and/or c) G.W. Bush, depending on which media outlet you watched.
Paul, that building was one of the places Terry and I visited when e were there in 2010.
