The mushers will be pushing themselves a bit harder, now, as the end of the trail beckons. As always, they're keeping very close eyes on the dogs, and then on trail conditions.
But if trail times from previous years hold true, then the first mushers could well cross the finish line in Nome in less than 36 hours.

And then comes the fun part: Getting all those dogs back from Nome.
ML - that's usually the case, but this year, it won't be any worse than getting them from Anchorage to Fairbanks for the re-start. Still a huge logistical airlift.
Of course, they also have to retrieve things left behind at the 24 checkpoints, all along the trail.

Dallas Seavey always seems to be ahead of everyone. If I remember correctly, he's dad was a musher too.
