It's been a rough week for aviation (again). Last Friday, the pilot of a Cessna 207 out of Juneau crashed; she was killed, but all four of her passengers survived.
Fariah Peterson was from Birmingham, Alabama but had been flying in Alaska for Wings of Alaska. She had been a pilot for about 13 years and was known to travel the world.
And then there are these:
That last one ... what should have been his daughter's happiest day turned horrific as her dad crashed while buzzing the wedding. I can't imagine, but our hearts go out to all these folks.

And now - for you, my friends - here's a video shot last month around Alaska. I recommend watching it full-screen.

How incredibly sad for those involved in the plane accidents. I understand the love of flying though. Most, including my 16 year old grandson, (flying lessons since age 12) are happiest when airborne and feel it is worth the risk.
The video - beautiful. Sigh of happiness.
Agreed on all points, Vicki.
"crashed while buzzing the wedding"
Terrible for all involved. Should remind all pilots of the old axiom, "There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but few old, bold pilots".
WSF, he is described as a good & careful pilot, who apparently made a mistake. I guess that's all it takes, sometimes.
I'm reminded of a veteran pilot, highly respected, who was practising for an airshow. Low and slow, he tried to turn tighter by kicking the nose around with his rudder. Caused a cross control stall too low to recover. He survived but the plane was a total loss. You are right, sometimes that is all it takes.
Always sad when a plane goes down and loss of life doesn't help.
Beautiful video, and truly sad on the crashes and deaths...
Lovely, entertaining video.
As for those tragic plane crashes . . . things sometimes seem so dark . . unusually so, as of late.
Maybe it's just a time-of-life thing.
That -and the mess in the White House.
So sad at the loss of lives. Joyous days turn into tragedies.
The video was lovely. You are very lucky to live in the most beautiful spot in the world, Rev. Paul. Your eyes must hurt!
Rev. Paul,
What an beautiful video, makes me want to leave OK to live in Alaska!!
Chickenmom, it's a wonderful amazing marvelous place. Makes me wish I had many decades more to take it all in.
Sandy, you'd probably be glad you did. :)
