Another Strong 'Quake

We had another 6.5-magnitude earthquake about an hour ago.

It was 145 miles southwest of Anchorage, so it didn't shake as hard as the last one ... but it was still a pretty good tremor.

It knocked photos over in the bookshelves, rattled cabinets, and made all the pictures crooked. No reports of any damage or injuries yet, though.

Rattled our daughter's in Kasilof pretty good. Brought a shelf down off the wall. Startled grandsons (2 & 3 yr old) asked "Who did that!?"

Finally had a chance to visit them since they moved six years ago. Salmon fishing on the Kenai. Reindeer sausage. Moose steaks and burgers. I may never go back to beef again.

We stayed on the Kenai peninsula the whole time and it was all unimaginably gorgeous (a bald eagle in flight!)

And it all seemed so much saner than life here in the mid-Atlantic I-95 corridor.

We felt it in the interior.
My 9 y/o grandson has been up visiting from Los Anchorage.
He came running to ask me if I felt the shake.
I told him "Yup, Grandma's chili caused it"
The look on his face was priceless!

I have not heard of any injury or damages reported.

midnight rider - I'm happy to hear you had such a grand visit; it's a beautiful place. And it is saner, generally. :)

Griz - I wish I could have seen his face, too.

Hope you and yours remain safe! Obviously, not a lot you can do except that.

See, you guys have all the fun.

Guffaw, when the earth is shaking, the only relatively safe place is airborne ... and then hope a landing strip survives.

Stephen, I keep tellin' ya, it's time to come see us!

Aw, I didn't get to ride the planetcoaster!

Sorry you missed it, Wing; it rearranged the dishes in the cabinets rather quickly.

God's way of reminding us we are not in charge.

WSF, agreed. Few in Alaska are able to forget that; earthquakes & volcanic eruptions remind us frequently.

Yow. The quake that propelled me into my front yard with some bad language a few years ago was felt in my area as a 4.2. And that was quite enough, thank you.

Rev. Paul said...

PH, a 4.2 can be quite startling, if it's close by & at a shallow depth.
