Another Rainy, Blustery Day

Wind, rain, falling leaves, and fall colors: a typical September in southcentral Alaska.

It rained pretty hard on us while we stood in line at the farmers' market this morning. By the time we got back home after all our stops, it had quit, but is now acting up again. Oh well, 'tis that time of year.

It was raining steadily when I took this shot. It's kind of strange that the rain isn't really visible, but maybe that's because it was blowing toward me at the time.

Anchorage shoppers are the hardy sort, and a little water doesn't stop us from doing whatever we need. There were a few little ones splashing back and forth across the lot where the market is located, having a great time in the puddles, and making everyone else smile. There was one really little boy in a North Face onesie, along with rubber boots, looking for all the world as if he were ready to set sail on a crab boat. :)

Of course the rain tapered off to light sprinkles by the time we were done, but has gotten heavier again. Along with a stiff wind that's bringing leaves down at a steady clip, too.

Oh, yes, the wind, rain and fall colors I mentioned:

More rain, less fires.

I predict that someday up there on the frontier, they'll actually build large indoor shopping facilities where you can make your purchases sheltered from the elements by more than a canopy.

WSF, that's quite true. While most of the fires had burned themselves out, a few are still causing trouble. I only hope this rain gets to the areas where that's needed.

Ed, I know you speak in jest, so I won't mention that we're 1.5 miles from the most-heavily visited shopping mall in Alaska. :)

Autumn is the best time of the year! I must admit though, that even at my age, I cannot resist a puddle....

Chickenmom, I'll keep your secret. :)

Thanks for not mentioning that.

No trouble at all. :)
