Fifty years ago, paleontologists would have told you that no dinosaurs were known to have lived in Alaska. But it's been discovery after discovery for the past three decades -- in Southeast, Denali, the Talkeetna Mountains, on the Alaska Peninsula and the lower Yukon.
Cool stuff (no puns intended).

Agreed. Most folks tend to think "but it's too cold in Alaska for (fill in the name of a critter)". Not so. There are fossilized palm trees in the tidal flats along the Cook Inlet, so it was provably much, much warmer in some parts of the very long past.
You just never know... :-) That's a 'cute' little one, but it'd probably chew your leg off anyway...
You're probably right, NFO; I can think of better things to be than a raptor's chew toy.
