After heavy rains all day yesterday, which resulted in flooding in the neighboring borough, the wet stuff finally changed to white stuff last night.
We have about two inches of heavy, wet snow this morning, making the roads feel like they're mud-covered. Few of us have our snow tires on, yet, and the highway treads I'm running don't do well is either standing water or snow.
The temp's hovering right around freezing, but should rebound to around 40° today. All this stuff will melt. Probably. And it could be worse: Fairbanks had power outages yesterday due to a heavy snowfall.
But in the meantime, it's still snowing steadily. If the temps were a few degrees cooler, this would be a significant amount of snow. Still, I suspect the tire shops are going to be very, very busy for the next few days as people decide to put their winter tires on, earlier than usual.
Us? We'll wait a couple of week, until the early rush is over.
As is, the snow's a colossal nuisance, but only temporary, and the forecast is free of snow for the next 7 to 10 days.
Yeah, we know it's only a guess, but it'll have to do.
Thanks for stopping by, friends. Y'all have a great Hump Day out there!

Rev. Paul,
It's just a early tease :-)
I remember we always had our first extreme snow when living in the U.P. around Halloween.
Sandy, we always get our first permanent snow around Halloween. May have several snowfalls before then, of course. This one was just a little more ugly than most.
Can't say I envy you. "Snow." White stuff. Seems like only yesterday I was shoveling it off the driveway.
Ah well. Time to start my mantra: "Spring is just around the corner." Repeat as necessary ;)
Hi, Cathy. 98% of the snow is gone now, as we knew it would be, with a temp of 42° presently. It's a little early for a permanent snow. This one's just to make everyone fuss about not having their snow tires on, yet. :)
Padre, Its going to be a long winter again
Rob, I suspect that's an understatement.
