It doesn't like snowy, icy weather. You can see how that would be a drawback in Alaska.
Truth be told, it went in the snow just fine. But as soon as the plows had passed, and enough traffic drove on the remainder to pack it down into the consistency of a hockey rink, that car slid like a puck.
Ungood, to say the least.
So we started with car lots close to home, and gradually expanded our search. She had a very specific wish list:
- no black or white paint jobs
- domestic manufacture
- SUV, small to midsize
- 2009 to 2013 model years
- Preference: Ford Escape
Then, in a lot in mid-town, there were three Escapes. One was white, but the other two were not black. The result?
Only a year old, and barely broken in. |
So this morning I've been scanning through the operator's manual
And just in time, too: there's an early snowstorm in the forecast for Tuesday. And you know what that means.

Good for YOU!

Thank you, my friend. May God bless you with a newer car, and soon!
Good for you.
Thanks for buying American(mostly).
We just replaced our 1999 Taurus with a 2015.
Awesome!
Ed, that was a close second on our list, too. The AWD version gets around great in the snow. And for the record, we're a Ford family. No imports for us.
Thanks, Kelly. :)
A new addition, congrats. Car shopping is usually miserable, I'm glad you found something without too much fuss.
Everyone is predicting a big winter (who is this everyone, anyhow), we are just doing our normal stuff and will see what the mountains throw at us.
Thanks, Max. We've learned which lots to avoid because of the swarm of high-pressure salesmen, so car shopping is somewhat easier now. And Alaska's been getting heavy snows in the interior already, so Tuesday could be ... interesting.
Rev. Paul,
A big congratulations to your Sweet Wife on her new car.
Now go play with it!!!!! It's always fun breaking in a new car.
I know she'll enjoy her FORD!!!!
Thanks, Sandy. She was the only one in the family without a 4x4, and now that's been remedied. :)
Really nice to hear how well that worked out for you.
Tell the Mrs to be careful, and scratch that shiny "new" paint!
Congrats on the new wheels! My heart still goes pit-a-pat when I see an old Ford
Bronco II. That was the best vehicle I ever owned.
Thanks, Jim. It's got a rock chip or two on the hood, but that's all. She'll be careful. :)
Thank you, Chickenmom. I understand how an old favorite can still get the blood pumping.
Pretty car! Ford has all the best colors. congratulations
Thank you, Marianne. :)
I think she'll be happy with that! :-)
She already loves it. :)
